Moody Hues was born from my love of all things creative and my passion for art and colour. What started out as a hobby soon became a desire to share my passion with others. I love how art and colour transcends all languages, encapsulates the imagination, and enables everyone to connect with it in their own way. I’m fascinated with how the use of colour and different colour combinations can evoke different emotions and moods. For example, blue, green and purple tones can have a calming and soothing quality, while red and yellow tones can be associated with energy and warmth. Not to forget pink (my little girl’s favourite!), said to evoke feelings of joy and creativity. And that’s where the name ‘Moody Hues’ came from.

When I discovered alcohol inks, I felt they were the perfect medium to create art that is vibrant and intense in colour. While experimenting with the natural flow of the inks and how the different colours blend, I love how they create a range of tones and movement within each piece.

My art is hugely inspired by nature and my local surroundings. Some pieces are quite naturalistic while others are more abstract. I enjoy the freeness of the abstract but also love representing iconic landmarks or seascapes from where I grew up in North County Dublin and different landscapes that represent my Irish heritage.

I create original art pieces using alcohol inks on different mediums including ceramic and glass. I also create custom pieces to individual preferences on request.
